FilmerCamp & KinoKabaret

29. July to 7. August 2016

What is it?

For the first time ”conference” and “Indie-Film-Happening” will be united this summer under the Cologne cathedral.

The FilmerCamp is an event of user-generated conferences around “filmmaking”. The course of action and the content of the event can be specified before or in the meantime. The format of this event has been inspired from the BarCamp and it focuses on exchanging ideas, creating discussion groups, organizing workshops which may conduct to new film projects.

KinoKabaret is an international movement of young filmmakers. The "Kinoits" support each other and make together films in a predetermined short period of time as Nonbudget projects: "Do well with nothing, do better with little and do it right NOW."
Since its founding in 1999 in Montreal, Canada, this independent film movement is represented worldwide in 70 countries already in some 150 cities. The spirit of collaboration and motivation stimulates the production of short-films.
This year, Cologne hosts for the first time a KinoKabaret.

On Friday evening a come-together event will be organized. In the next following two days presentations and workshops will be hold by the participants.

From here the participants exchange their expertise and address issues of common interest.
In addition to the pre-defined workshop topics the participants always have the option to create ad hoc workshops and presentations.
These interactions take place in groups of about 10 to 60 people per session (45-50 minutes each). In addition there will be lectures and discussions from the entire present audience.
On Sunday afternoon a farewell program will take place where video clips will be shown, ideas and contacts will be exchanged to initiate new projects.
As a sustainable contribution to knowledge transfer within the film cultural landscape, the individual presentations will be recorded and made publicly available from the Neuer Kölner Filmhaus e.V.

After the registration for the KinoKabaret a come-together event takes place on Sunday and Wednesday afternoon. Participants will have time on Sunday or Wednesday to prepare their film projects, to develop ideas, to customize the scripts, to build and complete their team.

After the pitch on Sunday or Wednesday all participants will have 60 hours’ time to produce their short film. During this period the “Kinoits” may supplement their material and support each other during the film production. The Neuer Kölner Filmhaus e.V. goes along with the participants for the film project management and can provide some equipment.
The participants will be supported by different workshops: e.g. acting guidance, resolution, action scene, light design, makeup, sound recording, editing, etc.
Each KinoKabaret session will be highlighted with a cinema premiere of the films produced on Wednesday / Saturday night. The premiere is a public event.

Schedule

Dear Filmmakers,
I am extremely pleased that you have chosen Cologne as a venue for the 1st International Cinéma Sumeet, shooting short films and engaging in common discussions on the issue of movies.
On-the-spot discussions with other players constitute an important impulse for you as movie makers and at the same time is an enrichment for Cologne as a city of film culture.
